Women Who Own

Meet the 2023 WBEC-East Envoys

An Envoy is defined as a trusted messenger or representative, especially one sent on an essential mission.

For the WBEC-East Envoys, that mission is to spread the message that “diversity promotes innovation, opens doors, and creates partnerships that fuel the economy.” Serving as advocates for women business owners and entrepreneurs in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Southern New Jersey, WBEC-East Envoys uplift our world-class certification, educational programs, and networking and mentorship opportunities that foster growth and connections between certified women’s business enterprises (WBEs) and purchasing entities.

WBEC-East Envoys serve as ambassadors and help certified WBEs learn how to leverage the organization and their certification. They also help build connections by welcoming new WBEs through direct outreach and encouraging and moderating conversations at in-person WBEC-East networking events.

Aliya Hammond, President and CEO of Aliya Hammond Consulting and recently appointed WBEC-East Envoy, states that, “It is an honor to be invited to serve in this capacity, to work alongside the members of the Envoy Committee, and to be a mentor to women entrepreneurs and certified women-owned businesses in our region.”

Today, we would like to take a moment to introduce you to this year’s Envoys for WBEC-East. Reach out, connect with them, and hear firsthand what it means to be part of a strong and grounded community where you feel like you belong.

Widely recognized as the gold standard, WBENC Certification involves a thorough vetting process that validates a business is at least 51 percent owned, controlled, operated and managed by a woman or women. Certified WBEs gain access to a vast network of support, including targeted business opportunities, increased visibility in corporate and government supply chains, education and development programs to spur growth and increase capacity, and networking and mentorship opportunities with thousands of women entrepreneurs and those who support them.
